Wilmington Police investigating crash that killed pedestrian on Market Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened early Friday morning involving a pedestrian.

According to a news release from WPD, officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 12:30 a.m. on July 4 in the 4100 block of Market Street. When officers arrived, they found Melanie Degrazio, 43, dead at the scene.

Police said the driver involved in the collision has been identified. The department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is leading the investigation, which remains ongoing.
