Wilmington Police investigating early morning downtown shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning in downtown Wilmington.

Officers with the Wilmington Police Department were in the area when they heard several gunshots around 2:30 a.m. in the 100 block of North Front Street. When officers arrived, they found one person with life-threatening injuries.

Police say officers began life-saving efforts at the scene before the victim was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

No suspect information has been released. The investigation is ongoing.
