Wilmington Police investigating fatal shooting on Dawson Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Sunday morning.

Around 1:30 am Sunday, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1300 block of Dawson Street.

There,  they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite attempts to save her, she died from her injuries.

Her identity has not been released at this time.

WPD says they are investigating this as an isolated incident, and if you have any information, you are asked to contact WPD immediately.
