Wilmington Police investigating hit-and-run on Independence Boulevard

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run collision that happened on Wednesday evening.

WPD officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit in the 4200 block of Independence Boulevard at approximately 7:26 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a man who had sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

A WPD spokesman said the driver involved did not remain at the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital for emergency medical treatment and is currently in critical condition.

This case remains under active investigation.
