Wilmington Police: Man struck by ambulance after running into the street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man was struck by an EMS vehicle Tuesday night after running into the street, according to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department.

The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Wooster Street.

Wilmington police say the EMS vehicle was responding to a call with its emergency lights on when the man ran directly in front of them.

Police say paramedics attempted to avoid hitting the pedestrian but were unable to do so. After the crash, paramedics began treating the man before transporting him to the hospital.

The man, who did not have identification on him, remains unidentified. Police said charges may be forthcoming against the pedestrian.
