WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department responded to shots fired early Thursday morning.

A shotspotter alert was received around 3:23 a.m. in the Creekwood community.

Police say several bullets were fired into a home, narrowly missing a teen inside.

The teen suffered a minor injury, not from the bullet but from carpet burn while ducking to avoid the gunfire, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
