Wilmington Post 10 defeats Whiteville Post 137 for Area II title


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Post 10 defeated Whiteville Post 137 for Area II title on Monday night. Post 10 won 6-1 at Buck Hardee Field. “Whiteville is young, they’ll be good for a long time,” Post 10 head coach Scott Sandlin said after the game.  “I think that’s what got em tonight. We had some kids with a little bit more under their belts tonight and we pitched it well, hit it well at times.”

Post 10 will be the #1 seed for Area II at the upcoming American Legion Baseball State Tournament at Wingate. Whiteville will be the #2 seed for Area II.

Pairings for upcoming state tournament – American Legion Baseball (All games at Wingate Univ., tourney starts Friday)
Game 1 – Area I champion (Pitt County) vs. Area IV runner-up (Caldwell), 9:30 a.m.

Game 2 – Area II runner-up (Whiteville) vs. Area III champion (High Point), 12:30 p.m.

Game 3 – Area III runner-up (Rowan County) vs. Area II champion (Wilmington), 4:30 p.m.

Game 4 – Area I runner-up (Garner) vs. Area IV champion (Union County), 7:30 p.m.
