Wilmington realtors see increase in home sales

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Across the state June was a record month for the housing market. Wilmington local realtors said they have seen an increase in home sales.

Chris Livengood, Intracoastal Realty’s Vice President of Sales said their sales in June were 34 percent up from last year at that time.

He said Wilmington is on track to have its fourth most successful year in its history. The other years are 2004, 2005 and 2006.

He says this is because more people are moving into area.

“We have a lot of people moving into the area either for retirement or a second home purchase. And we’ve seen a lot of demand for second home purchases,” said Livengood. “But it’s also just local residents upgrading or changing their lifestyles and taking advantage of the market place.”

Livengood said it’s a good time to list a property and it’s a good time to sell because interest rates are low.
