Wilmington restaurant salutes veterans with free meal for 25th consecutive year
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Golden Corral has given out free dinner to Veterans for 25 straight years now.
The restaurant began doing this in 2001.
Manager, David Chance, has been with the company for the last 23 years.
He said this is a day he always looks forward to.
“It’s one of our favorite days of the year. We love to celebrate our veterans, who are an integral part of our operation here.”
Army veteran Gil Mavarrette has gotten dinner on Veteran’s Day at the Golden Corral for 20 years.
“It’s not only a free meal, it’s a chance to socialize with some of your friends that you haven’t seen in a long time.”
The D.A.V. was in partnership with Wilmington’s Golden Corral, to help make this special night come to life.
D.A.V. stands for Disabled American Veterans.
The organization aids veterans of every generation to “address their challenges and achieve personal victories, great and small, to better thrive in civilian life.”
Wilmington’s D.A.V. office is located at 4601 Park Ave.
