Wilmington Sharks celebrating 20 years, unveil commemorative logo
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –The Wilmington Sharks is celebrating the team’s 20th anniversary in Wilmington.
To commemorate 20 years of baseball in the Port City, the team has a new logo that will be features on sleeves of Sharks jerseys during the 2017 summer season, which begins Tuesday, May 30 at Buck Hardee Field.
The logo features the USS North Carolina battleship and Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.
“We are excited to celebrate 20 unforgettable years in Wilmington,” said Wilmington Sharks General Manager Pat Hutchins. “While the last 20 years have been great, we truly feel that the best is yet to come.”
The Sharks will play 28 home games this season, which includes six Thirsty Thursdays and eight games on Friday or Saturday nights.
The Sharks say they have six promotional give-away nights and four post-game fireworks shows planned in order to show appreciation for 20 years of support from the Wilmington community.
