Wilmington subsidized housing residents may face rent increases in 2026
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — Some Wilmington residents who live in subsidized housing may be facing higher rents in 2026.
The Wilmington Housing Authority Community Outreach and Resident Services Committee met at Rankin Terrace Tuesday to present the monthly report.
Some residents have received letters from the authority claiming rent may increase based on the area median income, rather than the tenant’s individual income.
However, the committee told WWAY on Tuesday that the method of determining rent has not been decided and is still open-ended.
