Wilmington teen charged with fatally shooting father appears in court

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington teen accused of killing his father over the weekend made his first court appearance Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the 200 block of Colonial Drive early Saturday morning.

When officers arrived, they found Michael White dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

His son, Camden White, was charged with second-degree murder.

The shooting happened just two days after Camden White was arrested and released on bond for breaking and entering and attempted robbery.

In court Monday, a judge set his bond at $500,000.

If released, he will be placed on house arrest and required to undergo frequent drug screenings.

Also, in court it was brought up that the charged suspect was believed to be on LSD at the time of the murder. Which the defense said was provided to him by his father.

More than 10 family and friends, including White’s mom were in the courtroom.

We spoke with multiple neighbors Monday, but no one wanted to go on camera.

Most neighbors were shocked and saddened that an incident like this occurred in their neighborhood, but they were not worried as they believed it to be an isolated incident.
