Wilmington teen pleads guilty to murder charges

WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — A Wilmington teen pleaded guilty Thursday in the death of her friend who was caught in friendly fire as she and others shot into a home containing rival gang members.

Dominique Gibbs, 17, pleaded guilty to attempted first degree murder, conspiracy to discharge a weapon into an occupied structure and involuntary manslaughter in the Jan. 19, 2014 killing of Raequan Dupree Rouse, 18.

Judge Kenneth Crow sentenced Gibbs to 120-156 months in prison.

According to police, Rouse, Gibbs, Adron Whitted, 23, and Torrance Burns, 18, fired gunshots into a home in the 600 block of South 10th Street. A caller to 911 reported hearing at least 15 gunshots.
