Wilmington wins Best Al Fresco Dining Neighborhood

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the second time in less than a year, Wilmington has won a USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award.

This time the honor is Best Al Fresco Dining Neighborhood. A panel of experts picked the initial 20 nominees, which included the likes of the French Quarter in New Orleans and New York’s Meatpacking District. Online voting determined the top 10, which was led by Downtown Wilmington.

Last year Wilmington won the honor of Best American Riverfront from USA Today.

Wilmington and Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau Communications Director Connie Nelson told WWAY recently these titles help put our area on the map.

“This kind of recognition is not just local, but it’s national,” Nelson said. “It puts us on a national stage and it’s great publicity, some publicity we could never afford to pay for.”
