Wilmington woman sentenced to life in prison for murder

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County jury has convicted a Wilmington woman of first degree murder.

A judge sentenced Keisha Baldwin, 34 to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On February 26, 2022, Tammy Hayes, 45, was found at the Edge Lounge on South 5th Avenue with a bullet in her chest around 1:30 in the morning.
video showed Baldwin firing several rounds from a handgun before taking off in a vehicle.

She was arrested a few hours later.

Two years later, district attorney Ben David shut down the Edge Lounge, following a nuisance abatement investigation.
