Wilmington woman pleads guilty to murder and drug charges
A Wilmington woman pleaded guilty to second degree murder and drug charges Friday, after killing a 73-year-old man in a car accident last year.
Anna Strickland faces anywhere between 17 to 20 years in prison. That includes her second degree murder charge and three additional drug trafficking charges. District Attorney Ben David said justice was served in this case.
“Some of the biggest victims of drug use in this community are the innocent people who are killed on our highways each year,” said David.
Officials say Strickland was using several drugs at the time she ran a stop sign and collided with the car driven by 73-year-old Robert Meyer. He died on the scene.
