Wind Advisory issued for southeastern NC adding to weather threat

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Wind Advisory for southeastern North Carolina until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Forecasters expect northeasterly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 35 mph through the rest of the weekend and possibly into Monday.

Given the large amount of rain that’s fallen over the past several days around the region and already caused flooding in some places, the strong and persistent wind could bring down trees and power lines. As widespread heavy rain is forecast to return Sunday, the threat for damage will also increase.
