Winnabow man facing multiple drug charges following traffic stop

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Winnabow man was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop Monday night.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, units stopped a vehicle at Maides Avenue and Prices Lane.  The driver got out of the vehicle and fled. He was apprehended quickly after without further incident.

Following a search, officers located cocaine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Daiylon McGhee, 27, was charged with PWIMSD Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Possession Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resist/Delay/Obstruct Public Officers. He is being held without bond at the NHSO Detention Center.

The passenger who was also in the vehicle,  James Cotten Jr., 40, has been charged with Larceny and Failure to Appear on Misdemeanor. He is also being held without bond.
