Woman accused of stealing prescription drugs from Pender Co. pharmacy

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Burgaw woman is behind bars after she allegedly stole prescription drugs from a pharmacy in Atkinson last week.

Amanda Jo Wood, 35, was charged with the robbery of Atkinson Drug that happened Friday.

During the robbery, Pender County Sheriff’s Office says she used a pocketknife to steal prescription narcotics from the store.

Deputies say she was initially hospitalized a short time following the robbery.

Wood is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and simple possession of schedule 4 controlled substance. She is currently in jail under a $252,000 secured bond.
