Woman allegedly kills mom, gouges eyes out

ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL — A Royal Palm Beach woman killed her mother, gouged her eyeballs and placed them in a cardboard box, according to a probable cause affidavit.

On Monday, a judge ordered Camille Balla undergo a mental health evaluation.

On Friday, Balla called a co-worker and said she may have killed her mother, Francisca Monteiro-Balla.

The coworker went to the home at 102 Country Club Way and saw the younger Balla covered in blood, standing outside the home.

The coworker called the Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived, Balla said, “I killed my mother and I need help.”

The body of Francisca Monteiro-Balla was found in the garage. Her eyeballs were found in a cardboard box.

Several handwritten notes were found in the garage which had religious-themed messages related to clearing of the soul, according the arrest affidavit.

The younger Balla told deputies that she had smoked some marijuana, which she believed was laced with Flakka or PCP.

A judge ordered Monday that Balla undergo a mental health evaluation. She remains in jail without bond.
