Woman arrested after driving into Cape Fear River in Southport
BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY) — Southport Police, Fire and EMS responded to an accident at Waterfront Park late Wednesday night.
A red pickup truck drove off the bulkhead into the Cape Fear River.
The Fire Department says the driver was pulled from the submerged vehicle by bystanders before first responders arrived.
The driver refused EMS assistance and she was transported to the Brunswick County Detention Center.
No word yet on her charges.
The pickup has since been removed from the river.
