Woman arrested on DWI charges in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman on cocaine and DWI charges for allegedly driving with a child in the car.
According to the sheriff’s office, Kimberly Mitchell, 38, was allegedly speeding on Andrew Jackson highway southwest on Thursday.
A deputy attempted to pull her over and she eventually did as she left US highway 74-76 near the JK Powell Blvd exit.
The deputy says Mitchell was slurring her speech and had several empty mini bottles of vodka in the vehicle.
A child was in the back passenger seat. The deputy found cocaine in the vehicle and arrested her.
The child was safely released to a family member.
Mitchell was issued charges related to speeding, DWI, and possession of cocaine.
