Man attacked by knife-wielding woman in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A knife-wielding woman is facing charges in connection with an assault early Monday morning.

The stabbing happened in the 800 block of Castle Street shortly after midnight.

The victim told police he was sitting in front of the residence when the suspect, identified as Michelle Kenney, 43, approached with a knife.

According to a release from the Wilmington Police Department, the victim attempted to stop Kenney. He was injured on the hand and treated at the scene by paramedics.

Kenney ran away but officer arrested her a short time later. She has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Resist/Delay/Obstruct Public Officer. She was given a $8,500 secured bond.
