Woman charged with Friday, Sunday attempted armed robberies

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A woman has been arrested and charged in connection to two attempted robberies over the last several days.
Wendi Leigh Walton was taken into custody and is in jail under no bond.
Wilmington Police say Walton committed attempted armed robbery shortly after 8:00 p.m. on February 16th at the University Tobacco and Vape shop in the 300 block of South College Road.
Police say the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded property from the clerk.
During the robbery Walton allegedly lost control of the gun which was retrieved by the clerk.
Another attempted robbery took place February 18th around 9:30 a.m.
Officers responded to Buffaloes Market located in the 4900 block of Wrightsville Avenue. They say the suspect entered the store, bought a soda, then displayed a handgun to the clerk. The suspect then decided left the scene.
Shortly after, officers located and detained Walton.
