Woman gets 8 years in prison for heroin death


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington woman was sentenced to eight years in prison Thursday for selling drugs to a woman that killed her in 2016.

Porsche Dillard, 31, was the first in the area to face a federal charge for selling heroin and fentanyl that led to someone’s death.

The investigation revealed that on April 24, 2016, deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office responded to an overdose at a home in Castle Hayne. When they arrived,  deputies found a women dead with a syringe in her arm, several used bags of heroin/fentanyl stamped with the words “Old School”, as well as the victim’s cell phone.

Deputies found multiple text messages to “Porcha” who was later identified as Dillard.

On June 9, 2016, Dillard was arrested on unrelated state drug charges. She was interviewed by officers and admitted to selling heroin to the victim.

On May 23, Dillard pleaded guilty to a one-count Criminal Information which charged her with distribution of a quantity of heroin and fentanyl.

She was sentenced in federal court to eight years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
