Woman injured in shooting, Wilmington police investigating

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured Tuesday morning.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, around 9:35 a.m. a woman arrived at the City of Wilmington Haynes/Lacewell Training Facility seeking medical assistance. First responders determined she was suffering from a gunshot wound and had sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the woman was a passenger inside a vehicle prior to the shooting. After the vehicle was struck by gunfire, the driver immediately drove to the training facility to report the incident.
Emergency personnel at the facility provided first aid until EMS arrived. The victim was then transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
