Wilmington woman named finalist for Susan G. Komen calendar artwork

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington artist could soon be showing her work on the national stage.

The painting by retired art teacher Teresa Rogers is a finalist to be on the cover of this year’s Susan G. Komen calendar. Rogers is one of three national finalists. She says her friend fighting breast cancer inspired her painting.

“It’s overwhelming you just don’t get any bigger in breast cancer than in Susan G. Komen,” Rogers said. “And the amount of people that will get to see this and hopefully be inspire by it. It’s a little much to wrap your head around sometimes.”
