Woman can still have pet after animal hoarding charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A woman charged in an animal hoarding investigation earlier this year will still get to have a pet.

Prosecutors said Elizabeth Wright, 73, was allowed to keep one dog after 27 dogs and cats were taken from her Shallotte home in January. Wright was also given two years probation.

Officials said Wright’s home will also be subject to random searches during the next two years.
