Woman’s wedding ring goes missing during hospital stay
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Sunset Beach woman is missing a priceless family heirloom after her stay in the hospital.
The woman’s daughter Terri Gurganious said she checked into the McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, South Carolina with her wedding ring on but had to check out without it.
Gurganious said her mother began feeling really sick over the weekend so she stayed Sunday night into Monday morning in the hospital. She said some time Sunday night her mother’s ring went missing.
“I went in to get her some clothes and when I got there it just happened that her ring just disappeared,” said Gurganious.
She said her mother was delirious with fever and didn’t know what happened to it. She said the ring has been in the family for four generations.
“It used to be a pair of earrings. My aunt and my mother eventually turned them into wedding rings,” said Gurganious. “It’s at the hospital somewhere or someone has it. We’re not a hundred percent sure.”
Gurganious said it really doesn’t matter if the ring fell off accidentally or if someone took it intentionally, they just want it back. She said because it’s not just a family heirloom but a reminder of her father, who passed away seven months ago. She said her parents were married for 45 years.
“My parents’ relationship was probably one of the best relationships I’ve ever seen,” said “It was pretty much all she had left.”
Gurganious, her sister Heather Mckeown and the rest of their family is asking for your help. If anyone knows anything about the ring they are asking you to contact the Horry County Police (843) 915-5685 or email findherring@gmail.com.
Gurganious said if the ring is returned there is will be no questions asked.
