Work about to start on next phase of Boiling Spring Lakes dam restoration project
BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — The next phase of the Boiling Spring Lakes dam restoration project is about to begin.
Work on the North Lake and Pine Lake dams is scheduled to begin within the next few days.
Workers have already moved heavy equipment into place and detour signs will be going up around the work sites.
One such road that has been detoured is E Boiling Spring Road.
Altogether, four dams will be worked on simultaneously during this phase of the project.
Mayor Jeff Winecoff said it’s great that work is moving along, which will also make moving around the city easier.
“Well it’s a great relief, I mean, but its a lot of pressure on everybody trying to hit the detours and go around,” Winecoff said. “Alton Lennon Road is one of our roads that we depend on for fire, emergency, police, EMS to be able to cut through and get to places. So getting all these roads open back up a lot sooner than was expected is a big relief for everybody.”
Winecoff also said that the Upper lake Dam is about a week or two away from completion.
