Work on the CFMB moving along on schedule
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Work on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge is moving along on schedule.
According to a spokesperson for the NCDOT, work on the bridge’s two eastbound lanes is still slated for completion on March 31, ahead of the Azalea Festival.
Crews are working to replace the aging grates on the bridge. NCDOT Engineer Joshua Pratt said they are now almost 70% of the way there.
“We’re on schedule,” Pratt said. “The contractor has gotten to bay 8, they’ve got all the new stringers in bay 8 of 12.”
After the work ends on the two eastbound lanes, barring any adverse weather, the two westbound lanes will close from April 8 until May 23.
