WPD arrests wanted Chapel Hill man on cocaine charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say a Chapel Hill man who was wanted in several other counties is behind bars in New Hanover County after a three-month multi-agency drug investigation.

Police arrested Randel Riggsbee, 38, at the corner of Covil Ave. and Market Street around 6 p.m. yesterday. That’s where detectives say the found a little more than half a kilo of cocaine, along with $100,000 in cash inside Riggsbee’s car.

Chapel Hill and Greensboro police, along with Wilmington ATF officers, assisted in the investigation. Police say Riggsbee was wanted on outstanding warrants in at least three other counties in the state.

Riggsbee now faces a slew of drug charges, including manufacturing and trafficking cocaine, along with possession of the drug within 1,000 feet of a school. He is in the New Hanover County Jail under $125,300 bond.
