WPD chief goes on patrol

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police chief Ralph Evangelous went out on patrol this afternoon with one of his lieutenants to show support for his officers.

“What happens in other parts of the country is not going to affect how we interact and work with our folks here,” said Evangelous.

He was talking with members of the community and forming relationships.

“Folks have been great and supportive of us and our officers and I gotta say that overall it’s been… I need to do this more, because it’s uplifting to me personally to know that we’ve got so much support out there. People really like us,” Evamgelous said.

While on patrol one woman stopped the chief to say thank you.
