WPD cop back on the job after officer-involved shooting
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After a shooting in downtown Wilmington earlier this year, Wilmington Police Ofc. Adam Phillips is off administrative leave and at work again.
WPD says Phillips returned administrative duty on October 9.
Ofc. Phillips shot Raymond McGriff Jr. in September.
McGriff was seen downtown with a gun and according to warrants, he did not comply with officers’s commands.
McGriff spoke to WWAY a week after he was shot.
District Attorney Ben David says the investigation into the shooting was transferred to the Conference of District Attorney’s Special Prosecutor because of a conflict.
