WPD: Gas station robbed, suspect used golf club to get cigarettes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a robbery at a Han-Dee Hugo’s on Carolina Beach Road.

A spokeswoman said it happened around 10:45 p.m. Monday night when a man came into the store and asked for cigarettes. When the clerk turned back around, the man was waving a golf club and demanded money.

The employee gave the man cash and the suspect ran away toward Burnett Blvd.

He is described as a skinny black man, around 5′ 11″, wearing a plaid shirt, orange construction vest and hat, white pants and black shoes.
