UPDATE: Pedestrian hit by two vehicles identified
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police say a pedestrian who was hit by two vehicles while trying to cross a busy Wilmington street Sunday night died at the scene.
Wilmington Police say it happened just after 10:30 p.m. in the 300 block of S. College Road in front of the Outback Steakhouse there. That’s where officers say Irwin Vinson, 66, of Wilmington was crossing outside of the marked crosswalk when the crash happened.
Police say Vinson was hit by a southbound minivan, which threw him into a different lane. They say he was then hit by a second southbound vehicle.
They say both drivers stopped after the crash, but neither faces charges at this time. Wilmington Police, firefighters and EMS all responded to the scene.
