WPD investigating deadly shooting in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man died from his injures after police say he was shot Monday morning in Wilmington.

According to Wilmington Police, it happened just before 1 a.m. at Harnett and 5th streets.

Police responded after receiving a ShotSpotter notification for shots fired in the area. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and EMS also responded.

When they arrived, police say they found Reubin Irvin, 31, shot.

He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he later died.

The investigation is ongoing.
