WPD investigating hit and run

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a hit and run that took place Saturday night near the 600 block of South College Road.

According to police, officers located a man in the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital by EMS for treatment.

The driver who hit him, Thomas Murray, 19, previously fled the scene and was detained by New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office deputies off of Bayshore Drive a short time later.

Murray is charged with felony hit and run with injury, driving while license revoked, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was given a $10,000 secured bond.
