WPD investigating shots fired

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a possible shooting.

Police say a ShotSpotter alert came in just before 1:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of Wright Street. A few schools nearby were placed in a shelter-in-place for a brief time; Lt. Jerry Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says those were already lifted.

Police say they are also investigating a ShotSpotter alert in the 700 block of Meares Street shortly after the first alert.

No injuries have been reported at this time
