WPD investigating three separate shootings over the weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Three separate reports of shots fired into personal property over the weekend, two Saturday morning and one early Sunday morning, add to the list of recent investigations for police.

The first shooting happened around 4:30 am Saturday at a business on the 800 block of Castle Street.

The second happened just minutes later at 4:51 am into a home on 214 S. 11th St.

Police are investigating whether these two shootings are related.

The third shot spotter report this weekend happened at 5:00 am on Shirley Rd.

Police say the third shooting was a result of an argument between two people. The suspect shot the victims car three times.

Other business owners in the Castle St. area are worried this violence might hurt their business.

Wanda Richmond owns a hair salon just yards away from the first shooting.

“When you have a business you want your people to feel safe and comfortable to come into your establishment,” Richmond said. “It just needs to stop.”
