Man wanted in robbery, attempted robbery of Wilmington banks


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police investigators are looking for the man accused of robbing or trying to rob two banks.

Police say the first incident was reported at the Bank of America on Carolina Beach Road at around 2:15 p.m. The second was reported at the First Citizens Bank on 17th Street at around 2:34 p.m.

Police say a white male wearing dark clothing was involved in both incidents. In the first instance, police say the man walked up to the window and asked for money. When the teller refused, he left the scene. Police say he did get money from the second location.

The suspect for both incidents is described as a white male in his late 20s, about 170 pounds, six-feet tall, light reddish or blond hair with a goatee. He was wearing a beige hat, black aviator-style sunglasses with yellow arms.

No weapons were shown and no injuries were reported. The investigation is on-going. If anyone has information, please contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609
