WPD K9 Kraken to receive donation of body armor

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — K9 Kraken with the Wilmington Police Department will receive a bullet and stab protective vest from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loya Always.”

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a non-profit founded in 2009 whose mission is to provide assistance to dogs of law enforcement. Since its inception, the organization has provided over 6,225 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states.

Each vest has a value of $1,800, weights an average of 4-5 pounds, and comes with a five year warranty. Delivery is expected within ten weeks.
