WPD: Protestor files hit-and-run report, but charged with impeding traffic

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department says a downtown protestor recently filed a hit-and-run report, but now has been charged with impeding traffic.

Police says 27-year-old Jonathan Robertie originally filed the report with officers from a July 2 incident at 115 Market Street. Robertie reportedly told WPD that his bicycle had been hit by the Range Rover.

However, when officials viewed the video, which can be seen in the video player above, they say they were able to determine that Robertie and other protesters were blocking traffic.

He is charged with impeding the flow of traffic and failure to register a bicycle in the city limits.

Police say no injuries were reported and no charges were filed against the driver of the Range Rover.
