WPD seeking public help identifying armed robbery suspect

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend, and they say they’re still searching for the suspect.

Around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the 2900 block of Carolina Beach Road for the report of an armed robbery at a business.

Police say, the suspect entered the store, brandished a metal object, assaulted an employee, and got away with cash and other stolen merchandise.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Investigators believe the suspect, described as a black male wearing a black jacket, may be responsible for additional robberies at the same place on Thursday and Saturday.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit responded to assist with tracking the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the WPD or submit an anonymous tip through the Tip 411 App.
