WPD: Wilmington man dies in crash after truck hits power pole, flips

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is dead after police say he lost control of his truck, hit a power pole and flipped before being ejected from his vehicle late last night.

Wilmington Police say the crash happened just before midnight Tuesday in the 4000 block of Shipyard Boulevard. That’s where they say German Hernandez Sosa, 39, was driving his 2003 Chevy truck westbound when he made an abrupt left turn.

Police say Sosa then crossed the median into eastbound lanes before hitting a power pole and overturning. Officers say Sosa was ejected from the truck, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the pole he hit was broken in half, and a nearby building on Shipyard Blvd. was damaged in the crash. No one else was involved in the accident.
