WPD: Woman stabs suspect who climbed through window

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police say a Wilmington woman used a kitchen knife in self-defense when a man climbed through a window at her home over the weekend.

Wilmington Police say just after 1 a.m. Saturday, a man broke into a home in the 800 block of Chestnut Street. That’s where officers say Michael Anthony Randall, 24, climbed through a side window of the home and began assaulting a woman inside.

Police say the victim grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Randall in self-defense. Both the victim and suspect were taken to the hospital to be treated. Officers say Randall was released and then arrested for the crime.

Randall is charged with felony assault and first-degree burglary, and was booked in the New Hanover County Jail with no bond.
