Wrightsville Beach Elementary named one of the best in the nation
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County Elementary School received quite the honor Wednesday.
The U.S. Secretary of Education announced Wrightsville Beach Elementary was named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School, recognizing it as one of the best in the nation.
With this award, Wrightsville Beach Elementary joins the ranks of 50 private and 279 other public schools to receive this honor.
The school’s principal, Jackson Norvell said, “I’m very proud. I think the reality is, is that I was at the right place at the right time. I think there was already great things happening. I was lucky enough to come into the helm of this school and I’m very grateful for that.”
Washington D.C. will host a two-day awards ceremony November 7th and 8th to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments.
