Wrightsville Beach historian remembered
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A longtime Wrightsville Beach resident, who devoted much of his retirement to historic preservation was remembered today.
Bill Creasy died Thursday 15 days short of his 87th birthday.
Creasy spent more than 30 years working for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad before retiring to Wrightsville Beach in the 1980s.
Creasy was instrumental in founding the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History in 1995. He was a young boy when he watched a fire devastate Wrightsville Beach, including the landmark Oceanic Hotel, in 1934. He shared the story with WWAY on the 75th anniversary of the fire in 2009.
A memorial service for Creasy was held today at Wrightsville United Methodist Church.
