(WWAY) — Hurricane season is here, and WWAY’s StormTrack 3 team is helping viewers get ready with a special program airing this week.
The “2026 StormTrack 3 Hurricane Special” airs at 7:30 p.m. tonight on WWAY CBS and will provide viewers with important information about hurricanes and tropical storms that impact southeastern North Carolina.
The half-hour special will cover topics including how hurricane forecasts are made, the difference between watches and warnings, flood risks, storm surge, river flooding, beach impacts and how residents can prepare before a storm threatens the coast.
The StormTrack 3 team will also discuss lessons learned from past hurricane seasons, what forecasters are expecting this year and what families should include in their hurricane preparedness plans.
Living along the North Carolina coast means preparing for the possibility of tropical weather each year. The special is designed to help viewers better understand hurricane risks and provide practical information that can help keep families safe.
The hurricane special airs at 7:30 p.m. on WWAY CBS. If you miss it, you can catch an encore presentation Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. on ABC and CBS, and Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. on the CW.
