LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) – The WWAY Student Athlete of the Week is Jaxson Robinson from North Brunswick High School.

The defenseman for the boys lacrosse team was part of unprecedented success for his senior season. The Scorpions set a program record for wins in a season.

Robinson had to overcome a lot to play in his final year after a slew of injuries to his hand and shoulder.

Despite that, he persevered and managed to contribute to North Brunswick lacrosse.

“It was actually my mental state that took a huge toll,” Robinson said. “I love lacrosse so much and when I got injured, that put me out the entire season. Especially coming from a previous injury. But the first game, I was extremely nervous, I’m not going to lie. I couldn’t stay on my feet. I kept jumping, I kept falling. I was extremely nervous, but after the first game the nerves died down.”

Robinson will attend Appalachian State University with the goal of obtaining a Master’s in Business. He hopes to become a corporate lawyer.
